Fall into Fashion Event with Radish Underground

Earlier this month in PDX there was an awesome event downtown. Fall Into Fashion.

I teamed up with Radish Underground and one of my studio-mates Alyson Clair for the event. We had a trunk show and there was also a fashion show! It was a great event complete with delicious homemade Watermelon Coolers!

 There was a lot of happy ladies trying on dresses and chatting about fashion, and generally having a great time! YAY!

The Mercury's Design Blog MOD did a write up on the 'Fall into Fashion' event, and called us "local fashion Pillars" PILLARS!!!

Hometown Love!!!

I just delivered an order to Carlton, my hometown, and I am so stoked!!!

It seems like my hometown is growing up with me. When I lived there it was really a little farming town, but now it's an Oregon wine tasting mecca. 

There are now restaurants, wineries, and of course a little boutique.

I.M.R. Boutique is in a cute little cottage on Main St. They cater to both the locals, and tourists with price points from under $10. And they have Plus sizes. And everything in the shop is Made in the USA!!! 

So much Winning!

S.W.A.G. tradeshow!!!

Yeah!! We went to SWAG earlier this week. It's a professional trade show up in Seattle, that connects wholesale designers ( Hubris Apparel) with buyers from stores in the region. It was pretty cool.

Our Sales Rep, Alisa Sloan of Cabana Reps, is a champ!! She actually broke her foot just a day before the show- but still packed up and drove all the way to Seattle. I decided to go up on Monday to check out the show, (I had never been to one,) and help her out if she needed to take a break, but she was totally fine- taking orders with an ice pack on her foot! She's kinda Amazing.

I learned a lot by going - all about signage and displays; and how awkward I am talking to strangers. EEK!

I finally met a couple of Boutique owners and Designers that I have worked with/around, but had never had the chance to meet, placed a few orders, and scheduled a trunk show at Sassafras up in Seattle for June 1st. 

All in all- a productive day, even without doing any sewing.

What have we been up to, you ask?!

I actually wore a dress, and lipstick, it was super-fancy!!! No pics of me because I was taking all the pictures, but here are some sexy people for you to look at.

Happy Valentines' Day! Eat some chocolate and drink champagne for me - I'll be sleeping 'cause I'm sick.

You know those days when you have so much 'paper work' to do at home you realize you haven't moved in a few hours. This is what happened today.

I kinda hate shuffling files, editing photos,writing emails, and generally organizing, but it suddenly gets better when you get to snuggle under a handmade quilt. With Cats! These are my buddies - Mojito is the tabby, and Rio is the desert cat. Yes - she dances on the sand.

Fancy tags!

I got new tags that have my logo on them!
Starting in February 2013 these will be on everything.
They're super soft ribbon, and are pretty small, so as not to itch or irritate your skin.

Here is my new friend!! I finally have an industrial serger- and it's amazing.

I was about to break down and buy a new one, ( eek expensive!) but found this gem for sale in Vancouver WA for much less. She was dusty and greasy from disuse, but after some cleaning -zoom! -sews like a dream. 

Yeah, I'm into sewing machines like a nerd. 

Thankfully I was able to convince my dad to help me pick it up in his truck - theses things are heavy! I bribed him with delicious lunch from Brass Tacks Sandwiches.
